"PATH IN" Series PDF Print E-mail

Sundays, 9:30 - 10:15 AM

We welcome you to begin your path towards your own Christian ministry here at St. Peter's. We offer a series of courses for newcomers titled "Path In."  These courses are offered on a continuous basis: St. Pete’s 101, an introduction to our parish; Living la Vida Fidei, an introduction to Christianity; and, Holy Places, Holy Things, a tour of the church, with links to spirituality.

St. Pete's 101 PDF Print E-mail

We offer our "Path In" to the life of St. Peter's on Sunday mornings. If you have recently come to St. Peter's you know that starting new is hard to do. Do you have questions about living as a Christian or the distinctive way we do it here at St. Peter's? For four weeks we will help you explore what we are about here at St. Peter's and how we live and work together as a congregation.

Looking for an entry-level opportunity to deepen your faith? Look no longer. We are offering a course that was very popular last year called Living La Vida Fidei. That's English, Spanish and Latin for "living the life of faith" (a different twist on Ricki Martin's 1999 pop hit, "Living La Vida Loca).

For six weeks we will explore the practical basics of Living the Life of Faith as part of this congregation. We'll focus on a deepening relationship with Jesus, being more a part of the Christian community at St. Peter's.

"Holy Places, Holy Things - A Meditative Tour of our Church" will be an opportunity to explore and discover. It's designed to help new folks at St. Peter's connect to our distinctive place and our ways, and to help others who have been around for a while to deepen their understanding and appreciation of these things.

Fr Tom will guide the five-week tour of:

  • Our Altar area and what goes on there.
  • Our windows and the stories they tell, both in the art work and those to whom they were dedicated.
  • Our Sacristies (the "secret" space behind the big doors) and what goes on "behind the scenes" of the liturgy.
  • Our Entryway, through which we come into and go forth from St. Peter's.
  • Our Classrooms and Parish Hall.

Are you a disciple of Jesus? 'Disciple' means 'Learner'. Are you actively learning and growing in relationship with Jesus?

At St. Peter's we invite every Christian to come worship with us, connect with God and each other, and join us in the liturgy.

But do you want more? Do you want to dig deeper to know God better, to trust him more, to grow more peaceful and joyous in your relationship with Jesus, and develop your skill and passion in serving others?

Our mission at St. Peter's is Building Christians for Service and you will see below how we are taking a couple of significant steps this year to offer more and better education for your growth as a follower of Jesus. Join in the experience and the joy of growing!

St. Peter's College Ministry PDF Print E-mail

The college ministry at St. Peter’s is still a fledgling and growing. The goals are to provide support for spiritual and physical needs as they arise and are brought to our attention.

Visits to the campus of Patrick Henry College (PHC) for lunch by Fr. Tom and the Youth Minister, Corey McLaughlin, have provided great opportunities to educate that community about St. Peter’s and what we have to offer for their spiritual journey.  A couple of the college faculty and staff attend St. Peter’s, and Fr. Tom is able to meet with them from time to time, as well as with the students, to enjoy fellowship and “meet them where they are.”  Corey enjoys the same benefit weekly on Wednesdays, meeting primarily with the students at the various tables in the dinning hall, but also meeting periodically with the Deans of Men and Women to find out what needs there are and how St. Peter’s can help.  So far, the deans have said that our nurturing of the students who attend St. Peter’s is appreciated, as is our presence on campus—they love having representatives from local churches come on campus to provide added spiritual guidance and fellowship with the outside world.
